Frequently asked questions

Answers for the complete iRox experience: official HYROX results, Apple Watch race tracking, race history, sharing, and purchases.

Getting started

What does iRox do?

iRox brings your HYROX result and your Apple Watch race recording together. Import an official result on iPhone, record a HYROX-format race on Apple Watch, and keep both in your race history.

Which devices do I need?

Official-result import and race history are available in the iPhone app. Race tracking requires a paired Apple Watch with iRox installed. Open the Watch app on iPhone to install iRox on your watch.

Does iRox support the full HYROX format?

Yes. Watch tracking follows eight 1 km runs alternating with eight workout stations. It records the race as one continuous Apple Health workout.

What Health access does iRox need?

iRox uses workout, heart-rate, active-energy, and walking/running distance data to record your race and show live metrics. Grant Health access before your first tracked race.

Importing official results

Can I import an official HYROX result?

Yes. iRox can import a PDF or image of your individual result. A PDF works best because it keeps the full result and split details together. Read the import guide or learn how to export a PDF.

How do I import a result?

On iPhone, tap Import Race Result, then choose Load from file for a PDF or image file, or Load from Photos for an image in your photo library. iRox reads the source and presents the recognized result for review.

Why does iRox ask me to review an import?

Result layouts and source files vary. Review lets you correct the race name, date, division, athlete details, overall time, ranks, adjustments, and individual splits before the result enters your history.

What if some details are missing or incorrect?

Fields marked “Not provided” can be filled in before you save. You may save an incomplete result if you choose; missing values stay blank. Times accept mm:ss or hh:mm:ss.

Why is my result marked as a possible duplicate?

iRox compares a new import with your existing imported races. It will not create a second copy by default. You can go back, or deliberately import another copy with a unique name.

Can I add a result from a photo?

Yes. Images can be imported from Files or Photos. For the most complete recognition, use the full individual result as a PDF whenever possible.

Race history and comparisons

Where do I find saved races?

Use View Race History on iPhone. It includes both imported official results and Watch-recorded races, so you can revisit a race after the finish line. Read the race-history guide.

Can I link an official result to my Apple Watch recording?

Yes. Open an imported result and choose a recorded Watch race to link. This keeps the official result and your recorded workout connected without treating their timings as identical. Read the comparison guide.

Will my Watch time match my official result?

Not necessarily. Watch segment boundaries can differ from official timing. iRox keeps official and recorded times separate, and the comparison uses matching runs and stations where they are available.

What do the charts and timeline show?

Race detail views can show a split timeline, station-time bars, run-time points, and a comparison with another recorded race. For official results, cumulative split totals exclude Roxzone and judging adjustments, so they are not the official finish time.

Can I delete a race?

Imported results can be removed from your iPhone. Watch races can be moved to Recently Deleted and restored there; deleted Watch races are permanently removed after 30 days.

Apple Watch race tracking

How do I start a tracked race?

Open iRox on Apple Watch and tap Start Race. Your Watch records one continuous workout as you progress through each run and station. Read the active-race guide.

Which metrics appear during a race?

Runs show pace and heart rate. Stations show heart rate. iRox also shows your current segment time and total elapsed time.

How do I move between segments?

Double-tap to finish the current segment and move forward. Triple-tap to return to the previous segment. Long-press to pause, then choose whether to resume or end the workout.

How does indoor pace work?

When GPS is unreliable, iRox uses Apple Watch’s indoor distance estimate. Each run starts fresh and paused time is excluded. It is an estimate, not official course timing, and accuracy depends on Watch calibration and movement.

What happens if I cancel a workout?

A cancelled workout is saved as ended rather than as a completed race. It remains visible in your race history with its recorded segments.

Sharing, privacy, and settings

Why is iRox crowdsourcing race data?

iRox is collecting opt-in, reviewed result data to support future Race Search and performance comparisons. Race Search is not available yet. Read how sharing works.

What gets shared if I opt in?

Only the result details you reviewed in iRox are sent. Your original PDF or image and any OCR text remain on your iPhone. HealthKit and Watch workout data are not included in an imported-result share.

Can I save a result without sharing it?

Yes. Turn off Share with iRox servers before saving. The imported result stays on your iPhone.

What if sharing does not finish?

Your imported result is still saved locally. You can retry it from Race History or use Sync all imported races in Settings. Watch races always stay on your devices.

Can I use iCloud Drive?

Yes. Settings lets you save races to iCloud Drive. When you turn it off and remove iCloud files, your races and imported results remain on your iPhone.

Why can I add my name in Settings?

Your name is optional and is saved on your iPhone. Enter both first and last name, or leave both blank. It can help associate you with race data, but it is never added to a result automatically.

Purchase and support

Is there a subscription for Watch tracking?

No. The Watch upgrade is a one-time purchase; there is no subscription. Read the Watch upgrade guide.

How do I restore a Watch purchase?

Open the Watch upgrade area in iRox on iPhone and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure you are using the Apple ID that made the original purchase.

What is coming next?

Race Search, automatic workout switching, and Garmin support are planned, but are not available in the current app.

How can I get help or send feedback?

Use the feedback links in Settings to send a suggestion or leave an App Store review. For support, email support@mountairy.tech.
